Ireland ’13

These are some pictures that I took on a recent trip to Ireland. Most of them were taken with out of date film, I have one brand new roll of film to add to these which I will make better scans of.

Deal with it…

Got the pictures from my Mamiya 645 back today, shooting medium format Portra 400. I usually shoot black and white because thats all I can afford. I bought bulk Portra and it was still £4.50 a roll (15 shots) and the processing is around £10.50 so its a little out of my league.

I really like the results, there is nothing done to these images on the computer bar two or three small brightness adjustments.

Anyway have a look…

The Clock Tower Tour…

As our Christmas present to Cheryl’s dad we booked a tour of Manchester Town Halls clock tower, we had seen the flyers by chance when we were looking around the Christmas markets, checking out the Afflecks pop-up. None of us knew what to expect.

We were met by the guide in the main entrance of the Town hall and she was enthusiastic at the very least. She began by telling us about the Australian bell ringers that had turned up out of the blue and had started ringing the bells that haven’t been rung since the queen’s jubilee 7 months before, apparently we were incredibly lucky to be in the tower with ringers in there.

Up the the sixth floor we went, up the spiral stairs that encircle one of the heat stacks that heat the building, then to the small inconspicuous door that leads to a very, very narrow spiral staircase with 173 steps to the top.

There were several rooms on the way up; the ringers were not to be disturbed in their room, above that was the machine room with the clock work in, then the bell room and the dial room which was probably my favourite. Then finally the unnervingly open walkway that circles above the dials, the views as you’ll see we’re incredible. It’s a very special place and I look forward to having another chance to experience it.

On top of the clock tower we were treated to an impromptu tour of some of the other rooms, gorgeous but not as breathtaking as the tower itself.

Felicity, Alex and Oliver

The Pie and Owl blog has been somewhat neglected of late, especially by me, but my new years resolution is to get better at sharing our work in 2013. I thought I would start with some family portraits that we took late last year; Felicity and Alex and their little boy Oliver. These were taken at their home in Yorkshire and I’m sure you’ll agree that they are a beautiful family, making our job a little easier! Here are a few of our favourites from the session.

Oulton hall

A few weeks back we took a trip up to Oulton hall, tonight we are getting ready to go back there to take pictures for Becky and Tony. Everything is packed and we are excited for the big day tomorrow, so I just thought I would take a minute to share a couple of photographs of the venue, it is beautiful.

The last few weeks have seen us too busy to do much, yesterday was the first day we had a minute to breathe. So we got some film developed that we have been sitting on for a few weeks.

There is a roll from our trip to Ireland.

As well as a final two rolls from Centre Parcs.
